Sunderland confidence emerges amid realistic Jhon Lucumí outcome
Bologna’s Jhon Lucumí has been linked with a move to Sunderland.
Sunderland are set to jet off to Portugal on Tuesday (15 July) to start their pre-season camp abroad, and they will be hoping to add a few more bodies to the squad before they return home.
The Black Cats have already sealed six new additions ahead of their return to the Premier League, with several more expected at the Stadium of Light.
Amid links to Senne Lammens, signing a goalkeeper is high up on their list of priorities, though they are just as intent on bolstering the support in front of that in a bid to stay in the Premier League.

Lucumí release clause set to expire amid Sunderland links
It was recently reported that Sunderland are going to wait until after 17 July to strike an agreement for Lucumí, with a release clause set at £24.3million set to expire then.
However, a report from Foot Italia (15 July) states that an exit remains the most likely outcome for the Colombian, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham earlier in the window.

Le Bris is said to be confident that the Black Cats can get this deal over the line, with Sunderland currently leading the way for his signature.
At 27 years old, Lucumí has a wealth of experience at the top level and would be an excellent addition for the Wearsiders.

Sunderland ready to compete in the top flight
Sunderland will still be one of the favourites to go down, but the level of ambition shown so far in the window serves as a cause for optimism.
The Black Cats have already added some real quality to their side and will look to keep doing so until the transfer window closes.
Lucumí’s addition would be another statement, as the Black Cats look to survive in the Premier League.
