Sunderland can strike £17m+ deal to sign forward likened to Gareth Bale

Sunderland are still in the market for attacking reinforcements before the summer transfer window closes.

Twelve new arrivals have already checked in at the Stadium of Light this summer, and Sunderland have shown no signs of stopping there.

Sunderland are active in their pursuit of Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi, while also seemingly prioritising at least one more forward arrival.

With that in mind, Sunderland could strike a bargain deal to sign a winger who was compared to Premier League great Gareth Bale earlier in his career.

Girona open to Viktor Tsygankov exit

Simon Adingra and Chemsdine Talbi both registered assists in Sunderland’s 3-0 win over West Ham on the opening day of the season, though another wide forward is needed.

Viktor Tsygankov, step forward.

According to Ben Jacobs via X, Girona are willing to entertain offers in the region of £17.2million, which, for a player of his quality, would be a bargain.

Tsygankov has struggled with injuries recently, but his numbers when fit are excellent, and given his profile as a left-footed winger, he is exactly what Sunderland need.

Back in 2016, UEFA had identified Tsygankov as one of Europe’s wonderkids to keep an eye on, naming him the “Ukrainian Gareth Bale”.

Whether Sunderland look into a deal will depend on other targets they have in mind, but this would be a real coup should they pursue it.

Viktor Tysgankov would be the final piece to the puzzle

Sunderland’s only real concern at the moment is the lack of options when it comes to wide forwards.

Both Adingra and Talbi have shown signs of promise, but the lack of options after them has to be addressed in the final nine days of the window.

Patrick Roberts is the only other fit winger at the Stadium of Light, and whether he can excel in the Premier League will be up for debate after an average campaign in the Championship last time out.

Sunderland have already made Premier League history with their money spent, and could keep doing so up until the deadline.
