Sunderland can seal ‘seven-figure windfall’ amid Nectarios Triantis claim
Craig Moore has urged Rangers to pursue Nectarios Triantis, who has been thriving on loan at Hibernian from Sunderland.
The 22-year-old has been a standout in the Scottish Premiership, contributing to nine goals, including a pivotal role in Hibs’ historic 2-0 win over Gers in April.
With Hibs sitting third, Triantis’ form has earned him a senior Australia call-up and a nomination for the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year, highlighting his rising value.

Sunderland should profit from Triantis’ sale this summer
Speaking on Go Radio, Moore said: “Martin Boyle, [Lawrence] Shankland, the boy [Nectarios] Triantias has had a great season at Hibs. [James] Penrice, the left full-back at Hearts.
“For me there is enough players that can go in and Rangers would have a far better squad than they currently have got. Lennon Miller. There is players there.”
His contract with Sunderland runs until 2027, and with potential interest from Rangers, Portsmouth and Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli, Sunderland could command a seven-figure transfer fee, a significant profit on the £300,000 paid to Central Coast Mariners in 2023.
However, if Sunderland secure promotion to the Premier League, Triantis, primarily a Championship-level player, is unlikely to feature regularly, as manager Regis Le Bris has preferred other midfield options like Jobe Bellingham and Dan Neil.

His limited appearances for the Black Cats and success in a less competitive league suggest he’s not yet Premier League-ready.
Whether or not Regis Le Bris would want him to stay at the club beyond the end of the season, remains to be seen.

Kristjaan Speakman and co must try to hike his transfer valuation
The Stadium of Light outfit and Kristjaan Speakman must begin work to sell him now to capitalise on his inflated market value, driven by his Hibs performances and European interest, especially if promotion diminishes his role.
A sale would provide funds to reinvest in players better suited to their ambitions, while allowing Triantis to continue developing at a club like Rangers, where regular minutes in a competitive environment align with his career trajectory.
Even if the Black Cats fail to secure promotion, they’re building a side that’s capable of securing automatic promotion next season and the 22-year-old is not someone who strengthens their first team.
