Sunderland ‘can finally seal Henderson signing’ as manager confirms player deal close
Sunderland may well have moved one step closer to signing Jordan Henderson from Ajax.
Henderson has been linked with a spectacular return to Sunderland following their return to the Premier League.
Regis Le Bris‘ outfit may be ready to make a move for the former Liverpool captain after new details about a likely outgoing have surfaced.

Midfielder exit to pave the way for Henderson
Sunderland‘s hopes of signing Henderson may well have been boosted by the potential departure of one of their current midfielders.
Pierre Ekwah could be about to leave the Stadium of Light by making his loan move to Saint-Etienne permanent.
The Frenchman spent last season on loan at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, making 29 appearances for the club.
The 22-year-old greatly impressed, despite the club being relegated to Ligue 2.
Saint-Etienne manager Eirik Horneland has confirmed he would like to make the move permanent.
The Norwegian said, as per BUT! Football Club (19 June): “I would like to exercise the option to buy Pierre.”
Ekwah’s buy option for the French side is believed to be £6million, with the clubs already in discussions over the move.
If Sunderland managed to complete the sale, that transfer windfall would pave the way for them to spend on Henderson’s wages, plus any small fee with Ajax open to letting their skipper go.
The former Liverpool captain is reportedly earning £3.9m annually at Ajax, and would command a similar salary at Sunderland.
A sale of Ekwah’s like would give the Mackems more space to be able to afford that type of wage.

Henderson signing to provide much-needed experience
Sunderland completing the transfer of the England international would be a shrewd piece of business
Henderson is much loved by his teammates, with over 400 appearances in the Premier League and one title to his name.
Le Bris has put together a young and exciting side, personified by the likes of Chris Rigg and Dan Neil.
Henderson coming in would provide much-needed top-flight experience and help with the development of youth in the side.
Experience seems to be the key word for Le Bris in terms of other potential incomings at the club.
Joe Gomez has been linked to the Stadium of Light, where a reunion with Henderson could take place.
Raheem Sterling is another name thought to have been considered, as Sunderland search for Premier League pedigree to aid them next campaign.
