Sunderland can continue incredible record dating back to April 2018 vs Fulham
Sunderland head to Fulham on Saturday looking to extend a strong record against London teams that stretches back to April 2018.
Regis Le Bris has had to sit and wait anxiously for the return of his Sunderland stars, with many performing for their countries over the international break.
Omar Alderete was caught in a brawl during Paraguay’s friendly against the USA, but fortunately will be heading back to Sunderland unscathed.
Noah Sadiki has continued to impress while away with the Democratic Republic of Congo, as Dan Ballard received a red card for Northern Ireland on Friday.
Thankfully for Le Bris, there have been no major injuries for any of the Black Cats’ main players, and Sunderland now have a massive opportunity to do something special against Fulham.

Sunderland unbeaten in last 14 league away games vs London teams
Sunderland have made a magnificent start to the season, turning doubters into believers.
Currently sitting fourth in the Premier League, the Black Cats have results over London opposition this season in Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
However, the last time the Mackems lost an away league game against a London club was in fact to Fulham, all the way back in 2018.
- Sunderland’s last league away defeat in London came on 27 April 2018
- Fulham beat Sunderland 2-1 at Craven Cottage, with Joel Asoro’s goal cancelled out by a late Aleksandar Mitrovic winner
- During Sunderland’s run, they have gained wins over QPR, Millwall and now Premier League opposition
If Sunderland were to snatch a win or draw against Fulham, a record of 14 league away games undefeated against London sides would be extended to 15.
The Mackems have also been handed a major injury boost ahead of the clash.

Rodrgio Muniz out injured vs Sunderland
Fulham have been lacklustre to say the least when it comes to scoring goals in the Premier League this season.
Raul Jimenez has scored once in the Premier League this campaign, as the Mexican is touted to start against the Black Cats due to the latest update on Rodrigo Muniz.
| Game | Result | Competition | Date |
| Sunderland vs Fulham | 3-2 Loss | FA Cup | 8 February 2023 |
| Fulham vs Sunderland | 1-1 Draw | FA Cup | 28 January 2023 |
| Fulham vs Sunderland | 2-1 Loss | Championship | 27 April 2018 |
| Sunderland vs Fulham | 1-0 Win | Championship | 16 December 2017 |
| Fulham vs Sunderland | 3-1 Win | FA Cup | 3 February 2015 |
Fulham’s Brazilian striker Muniz will undergo surgery for a hamstring injury, which leaves Jimenez as their only senior number nine.
Given how well Sunderland’s defence has performed, everything is pointing in the direction of a win for Le Bris’s men.
The Mackem supporters are in pole position for a fantastic London away game, which could see their historic run extended even further following the latest blow for the Cottagers.
