Sunderland ‘can cause more Newcastle misery’ after latest Lloyd Kelly update
Sunderland will renew their rivalry with Newcastle this season, and they could cause early damage to their neighbours via the transfer market.
Regis Le Bris will be pleased with the progress his side have made in the transfer market, with 10 new arrivals already confirmed, and several more to follow.
Omar Alderete is due to be announced after a deal was agreed with Getafe, as the Black Cats look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of their Premier League return.
However, it seems as though he may not be the only defensive arrival this month, with Juventus’ Lloyd Kelly linked with a move to Wearside.

Kelly could be set for North-East return as Sunderland press for deal
Kelly‘s time at Newcastle was one to forget, and the same can be said for his time in Juventus, having started just 11 league games last campaign.
Now, according to a report in the print edition of La Gazzetta Dello Sport (pg 13, 12 August), Sunderland are pushing for his signature, and it could have a huge effect on Newcastle.

The Magpies seem resigned to losing Alexander Isak, and were believed to have identified Randal Kolo-Muani as a potential replacement.
However, Juventus are also keen, and the report states that the Serie A giants are looking to offload one of Kelly, Douglas Luiz or Dusan Vlahovic to fund the move.
If Sunderland pursue a deal, they would not only add another body to their defensive options but also pile more misery on Newcastle.

Would Kelly be a good addition for Sunderland?
Kelly has a wealth of experience in England, and plenty in the Premier League, having featured 141 times for Bournemouth over a five-year period, but his performances have declined since.
He has undeniable quality, but it remains to be seen whether the 26-year-old can get back to the form that saw him earmarked as a Juventus target in the first place.
