Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris speaks out on long-term plan for Enzo Le Fee
It hasn’t been the easiest start to the season for Enzo Le Fee at Sunderland.
The Frenchman went from the joy of helping Sunderland earn promotion and signing permanently for them to seemingly being replaced in centre-midfield by Granit Xhaka.
Le Fee has had to deal with being played out of position on the left wing this season, and he has also missed Sunderland’s latest games with a minor injury.
However, Regis Le Bris has confirmed that the former Roma man will play a big role for the Mackems this season.

Le Fee is expected to be fit to face Aston Villa on Sunday, and Le Bris is expected to draft him straight back into his starting XI.
The Sunderland boss is a huge admirer of the midfielder and has spoken out his long-term plans for him.
Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, Le Bris revealed that he spoke to Le Fee about a potential positional change shortly after Xhaka was signed. He also admitted that he didn’t know what his position would be in the long-term.
He added: “He knows that we trust him. He’s really important for the squad. He’s getting better day after day.
“His leadership and his technical level is really important for the squad, so now it’s just a question of the journey, and he will play.”
Enzo Le Fee comeback will be welcomed by Sunderland
Sunderland fans will be pleased to see Le Fee back in the starting lineup if he is deemed fit enough to play against Aston Villa.
The Frenchman played a key role in Sunderland’s Premier League victories against West Ham and Brentford, even if he wasn’t playing in his best position.
Le Fee shows great industry from the left wing, which makes him a useful weapon in Sunderland’s attack
He also shows:
- Great technical ability and composure on the ball
- Impressive vision for a forward pass
- A willingness to track back and help out the defence
These qualities will all be needed to help Sunderland earn a positive result against Aston Villa.
If Le Fee can keep up his great form throughout the season, there’s a great chance that Sunderland can continue to pick up impressive results in the Premier League.
