Sunderland ace Wilson Isidor sends message after meeting supporters at event

Sunderland new boy Wilson Isidor has revealed a message to supporters following his appearance at an event for summer signings at the Stadium of Light.

Posting on his X account [19 September], the French forward told the Mackem faithful he is excited to get the stadium “bouncing” having arrived on loan from Zenit St. Petersburg.

The event which took place earlier this week was an initiative by the club, at which a limited group of fans were able to meet and ask questions to Isidor, alongside his fellow new recruits such as Ian Poveda and Alan Browne.

Isidor, who has made substitute appearances against Portsmouth and Plymouth Argyle so far, shared: “So nice to meet all of you in person and have some good [times]!

“Can’t wait for the game on Saturday, let’s get the Stadium of Light bouncing.”

Wilson Isidor part of late summer boost for Sunderland

Isidor was brought in on a loan deal this season by Sunderland having played in Russia for the past two-and-a-half years.

With pedigree in European football, youth international experience with France and a good age profile at 24, the imposing forward – capable out wide and through the middle – can have a positive effect on Wearside.

He is a confident individual who has shown plenty of character towards the supporters in his short time at the club, and appears to be embracing every minute of his first taste of English football – understanding the importance of the fanbase.

Isidor was secured in good time to make his debut against Portsmouth on 31 August, but the deadline day quartet – Chris Mepham, Milan Aleksic, Salis Samed and Ahmed Abdullahi – are so far yet to feature in their new colours.

Sunderland will now feel as if they have adequately strengthened while simultaneously investing appropriately in youth, continuing their risky but exciting business model.
