Sunderland ace makes ‘unbelievable’ Regis Le Bris admission

Sunderland midfielder Alan Browne has opened up on life under head coach Regis Le Bris, describing the Frenchman as “a real asset”.

Le Bris’ arrival at the club was met with mixed emotions following a lengthy search to replace Michael Beale but fans and players have both very quickly taken well to his ways of working as he has overseen an excellent start to the season, leading Sunderland to the top of the Championship.

The most recent fixture ended as a 2-2 draw against promotion favourites Leeds United with a 97th-minute Illan Meslier howler gifting the Black Cats a late point.

However, it was a result that maintained Sunderland’s unbeaten home run since Le Bris’ arrival and Browne was eager to praise his boss after the game.

In quotes reported by The Chronicle (9 October), Browne said: “I think he’s absolutely brilliant. It’s not just because we’re winning, even when we are winning, he’s looking at what we can improve on. He’s not getting up our highlights and saying we’re unbelievable let’s do that every week.

“Long may that continue. He’s a real calm presence, he doesn’t get carried away with anything. Whether we’re winning or we’re losing, he’s very intelligent and I think he’s a great asset to the club. He’s brilliant, not just for the young boys but myself to learn form.”

Regis Le Bris making huge Sunderland impact

Le Bris, so far at least, appears to have been an excellent pick-up for Sunderland and while questions can certainly be asked as to why it took as long as it did to find Beale’s successor, not many questions can be asked about the Frenchman’s credentials to have been that man.

Whilst there has been the occasional disappointment so far this season, most notably the defeat to Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Arygle, the season has gotten off to a fantastic start and Sunderland’s position at the top of the table is certainly warranted.

An exciting style of play and certainly one that has been beneficial for the development of numerous players but no one more than Jobe Bellingham who has arguably been Sunderland’s best player this season.

Sunderland need to maintain that consistency, however, and if players stay fit and Sunderland are able to pick up some additional quality in the January transfer window, it’s hard to make a case against why the Black Cats can’t remain in their current league position come the end of the season.
