Steph Houghton mesmerised by ‘unbelievable’ moment witnessed in Man City win vs Sunderland
Josko Gvardiol was lauded for what he did in Man City’s win over Sunderland on Saturday.
Sunderland suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Man City, with two goals in quick succession from Pep Guardiola’s side.
Ruben Dias saw his effort deflected off the head of Dan Ballard in the 31st minute, before Gvardiol doubled City’s advantage just a few minutes later.
Despite the result perhaps saying otherwise, the Black Cats didn’t do a lot wrong at the Etihad, and were ultimately undone by moments of sheer quality.

Josko Gvardiol ended Sunderland hopes of a result vs Man City
Sunderland came from 2-0 down to beat Bournemouth 3-2 last weekend, but to repeat that feat away to Man City was always going to be a huge, huge ask.
The game was dominated by the hosts from start to finish, and the Black Cats will not sulk at a defeat away to one of the best teams in the world.
Dias’ goal had a slice of luck about it, but Gvardiol’s goal from the corner was perfectly executed, much to the astonishment of former Man City and Sunderland defender Steph Houghton.
As quoted via BBC Sport, she said: “Josko Gvardiol with an unbelievable header. The delivery is fantastic from Foden.
“The timing and the execution from Gvardiol, he is one of the best in the air when it comes to set-pieces. What a finish.“
Sometimes you just have to say ‘fair play’ and move on
If Sunderland got anything away to Man City, it would easily have been the best result of the season so far, even taking into account their win away to Chelsea and draw at home to Arsenal.
Guardiola’s side have quality in every position, with a bench that would walk into most teams in the Premier League.
While everyone was dreaming of a win at the Eithad, a loss there isnt going to define Sunderland’s seasons, nor is it likely to have any real impact on their ability to bounce back.
However, with the Tyne-Wear Derby up next, Sunderland certainly have to, and with Noah Sadiki and Granit Xhaka both escaping a booking, they have every chance of returning to winning ways.
