Speakman ‘shatters claims’ as Sunderland on verge of three statement signings
Sunderland continue their hunt for new signings ahead of next season in a crucial summer window.
Regis Le Bris and his side are looking to bolster the squad ahead of a challenging Premier League campaign next season.
Following the departure of Jobe Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund, the Mackems have funds available to invest in the summer transfer window.
Targets have already been looked at, with sporting director Kristjaan Speakman leading the club’s recruitment drive.

Sunderland look to strengthen spine ahead of crucial campaign
Sunderland have identified three new signings to strengthen the core of their team and add much-needed depth and quality.
The Daily Mirror’s print edition (26 June, page 42) reports that the Black Cats are set to shatter suggestions that they will be Premier League whipping boys by making three new signings.
The report adds that Sunderland are targeting Polish international Marcin Bulka, who currently plays for Nice and was one of the standout performers in Ligue 1 last season.
Sunderland are also eyeing an ambitious move for forward Armand Lauriente, who could be available in a deal worth around £12million.
Speakman is also believed to have spent several days in Europe last week to discuss a potential transfer for Brondby midfielder Clement Bischoff.
The highly rated youngest has been one of the main stars for Denmark in the under-21 European Championships.
Sunderland are said to be closing on in all three of those players in what would be some impressive business.

Sunderland face uphill battle in Premier League without major investment
Entering the transfer window, the Sunderland will have one of the smallest budgets in the Premier League.
Without significant investment, they could struggle to compete in the top flight against the best teams in England.
Sunderland must be smart in who they target and who they sign. It could be a long and challenging season for the Mackems if they get it wrong.
Le Bris will have a plan going into pre-season, but the board must back him with the signings he needs to challenge sides like Leeds and Burnley and avoid an immediate return to the Championship – something many pundits expect.
If they get their recruitment right, Sunderland will give themselves a fighting chance of staying in the most competitive league in the world.
Mackems fans will want to believe in the project and dare to dream that their team can hold their own – and maybe even thrive – among the elite.
