Simon Adingra speaks out after what happened in Sunderland defeat vs Man United

Simon Adingra will have left Old Trafford disappointed after Sunderland’s latest defeat.

Sunderland suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Man United in their final Premier League game before the October international break.

Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko were both on the scoresheet for the hosts, who ran out as fairly comfortable winners on Saturday afternoon.

However, while a lot of the focus was on Sunderland‘s performance, plenty of attention was also on Adingra after his short cameo at Old Trafford.

Regis Le Bris hooked Simon Adingra after 37 minutes

After just 31 minutes, Sunderland found themselves 2-0 down, and certainly with their backs against the wall against a struggling Man United side.

Change was needed, and Regis Le Bris opted to take Adingra off and put Dan Ballard on after just 37 minutes, and the frustration on the face of the Ivorian was clear.

Adingra is yet to reach the heights expected of him at Sunderland, but he showed flashes at Old Trafford, showcasing that it wasn’t a performance-based decision to withdraw him.

Instead, it was tactical, with Adingra showing his understanding of the situation with a post shared on his Instagram after the game.

His post reads: “When life hits you, don’t see it as punishment, see it as preparation. The storm doesn’t come to destroy you; it comes to clear your path.

“Sometimes you have to be shaken to be awakened. Thanks for the amazing support. As always, we will be back stronger.”

Sunderland must take note of second-half display vs Man United

When Ballard was brought on for Adingra, the complexion of the game changed.

Sunderland had a late penalty shout in the first half and found themselves in several dangerous areas throughout the remainder of the clash.

It was a back five, with the Black Cats matching United player for player, and it helped nullify their threat, while allowing those possessing it to showcase it more frequently.

Had the likes of Chemsdine Talbi and Eliezer Mayenda taken their chances, it could have been a very different result.

It will be something Le Bris looks at, and potentially adopts from the start in similar away games going forward, with a trip to Stamford Bridge as their next test away from home.
