Ross Stewart makes new Sunderland admission ahead of playoffs – ‘I hope’
Ross Stewart has sent a message to Sunderland supporters ahead of their clash with Coventry City.
Sunderland, off the back of their 1-0 defeat to QPR, have had plenty of time to prepare for Friday’s playoff clash against the Sky Blues.
The Black Cats have a wretched record against Coventry, but that will need to end if they are to maintain their hopes of making a return to the Premier League.
All eyes will be on the CBS Arena come 8 pm on Friday, and there will also be a familiar pair on the game.

Sunderland sent best wishes from Stewart
Sunderland fans will remember the name of Stewart for several reasons, the most recent because of his move to Southampton, which hasn’t gone to plan because of injuries.
However, the Scotsman had a very successful spell with the Black Cats and played a crucial role in their promotion from League One, and via a message sent to supporters, he has confirmed that he will be watching the game.
Sunderland | Games | Goals | Assists |
Stewart | 81 | 40 | 6 |
Via the Sunderland club site, he said: “I’ve got nothing but good things to say about the Club and I loved every minute of my two-and-a-half years there.
“I’ll certainly be watching the next week or two in the Play-Offs, and I wish them all the best.
“I hope they achieve promotion. It’s a Club that should be playing in the Premier League.”

Coventry record has to come to an end
Quite frankly, Sunderland’s record against Coventry will come to an end one day, and there would be no better time to do it than in the semi-final of the playoffs.
Having secured a fourth-place finish with games to spare, Sunderland evidently have the quality to thrive against any team in the division, and they simply need to find a way to return to the form that brought them so much success earlier in the campaign.
Regis Le Bris and everyone at the Stadium of Light will be aware of the need to achieve promotion this season if they have ambitions of keeping their best players and reigniting their status as one of the biggest clubs in English football.
Should the Mackems make it through the final, either Sheffield United or Bristol City will await them at Wembley.
