Romaine Mundle shares Sunderland return hint with social media post
Romaine Mundle is yet to make an appearance for Sunderland in the Premier League.
Sunderland’s summer signings have hit the ground running so far this season, leaving little room for last season’s promotion-winners to stamp their own authority in the Premier League.
One of those who is yet to feature for the Black Cats is Mundle, who has been sidelined with an injury since July.
However, the latest signs are looking promising after a post shared by the former Tottenham academy prospect on his social media.

Sunderland may have Romaine Mundle back soon
As seen in a post shared by Mundle on his own Instagram account, the Sunderland star is back in training, though for now it seems as though he is engaged in non-contact sessions.
Mundle picked up a hamstring injury in pre-season, which would later require surgery, hence his long absence from the squad.
Mundle’s stats in the Championship last season
- 1,441 minutes played
- Seven goal contributions
- 26 chances created
- 35 completed dribbles
The 22-year-old suffered a similar fate last season in the Championship, with his injury struggles then limiting him to just 25 appearances in all competitions.
Mundle registered five goals and two assists in that time, showcasing his importance, and he may well have a big part to play in the Premier League.
Ahead of him in the pecking order at Sunderland is Simon Adingra and Enzo Le Fee, though his return to fitness could see the latter dropped back to his more favourable position in the centre of midfield.
Sunderland must tread carefully with Romaine Mundle
Mundle suffered a similar hamstring injury in November last year, which ruled him out for weeks, and that will recur once again if they rush him back into action.
Thankfully, given the options Regis Le Bris has at his disposal, there will be no need to do that this time around, with different players raring for their chance.
Wilson Isidor can also feature wide left, leaving the Black Cats with three viable options in Mundle’s absence.
With that said, his quality is clear, and the sooner Sunderland can get him back to full fitness, the more they will benefit from his ability.
