‘Romaine Mundle fear amplified’ as Sunderland deal now agreed
Romaine Mundle’s future at Sunderland is up in the air.
This summer has been relentless on Wearside, with six new additions already checking in at the Stadium of Light, and several more expected.
Sunderland will be in the market for a new goalkeeper and centre back before their season-opening clash with West Ham, with other areas of the squad needing some TLC.
When that happens, several players will have to be moved on from Wearside, and fears over Mundle being one of those may have just been amplified.
PSV could be set to pounce for Mundle transfer
Sunderland have today reached an agreement to sign Armand Lauriente from Sassuolo, who looks set to become their second left-wing addition this summer after Simon Adingra.
Regarding the former, he can operate centrally, though his best seasons have come from the left flank, which is the same area of the pitch that Mundle thrives in.

PSV have already shown an interest in signing him, as have Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco, and there may now be a genuine fear that Lauriente has been signed as his replacement.
Mundle is under contract until 2028 at the Stadium of Light, though his future will certainly be in the spotlight over the next few weeks.
Sunderland will need depth in the Premier League
While this could be a move in preparation for Mundle’s exit, it could also be one in preparation for AFCON, when Sunderland stand to lose four of their six new arrivals.
Regis Le Bris will need options for that period, and being French, Lauriente will be able to provide that, as will Mundle.
A clearer picture will emerge as the season draws closer, with a lot of work still to be done ahead of the Black Cats’ return to the Premier League, though the signs are promising.
