Richard Keys sends message to Howard Webb as he rages at Sunderland incident

Richard Keys is still furious with what he saw in Sunderland’s latest victory.

With transfer deadline day now over and the international break here, fans, pundits, and everyone in between will be looking for something to talk about.

As for Keys, it seems like he already has, with Sunderland namedropped in yet another post on his blog, and it is very unlikely to be his last.

It concerns Sunderland’s 2-1 win at home to Brentford, and he is still raging over one incident in the Stadium of Light encounter.

Howard Webb called out after Sunderland controversy

Wilson Isidor scored the winner for Sunderland against Brentford in a game that was certainly full of controversy.

Brentford had an opening goal disallowed before going on to be awarded a penalty for a foul committed by Sunderland defender Reinildo.

However, before that, the Mozambique international was involved in another grapple in the box, and this time, it was waved away.

Darren England was on VAR duties for the game, and in a post shared on his blog on 1 September, Keys has called Howard Webb out for the incompetence of his officials.

Keys said: “A wrestling match in the box at Sunderland that should’ve led to a Brentford pen. Who was in VAR? Darren England, who gave United that pen at Fulham for a similar [offence].

“Honestly, you can’t make this stuff up. Oh – that’s ten serious errors so far, Howard [Webb]. I’m keeping count because I know you can’t.”

Sunderland must get used to the inconsistency of Premier League football

VAR; you either love or you hate it.

Quite frankly, it seems like most think of the latter.

However, it is here to stay, and it is one of many factors that Sunderland will have to consider as they look towards Premier League survival.

Two penalties were awarded in that clash against Brentford, and if we are being honest, there certainly should have been a third.

That comes with Premier League football, and one week it will benefit Sunderland, and the next week it will go against them, in a feeling that won’t be too different from the Black Cats’ time in the EFL.
