Regis Le Bris speaks out after surprise Sunderland backroom departure
Sunderland assistant head coach Luciano Vulcano has left the club.
Following the club’s ascent to the top-flight last May, Vulcano was handed a role in Regis Le Bris’ set up.
However, he was absent during Sunderland’s 3-0 win against Burnley at the Stadium of Light.
Black Cats head coach Le Bris confirmed Vulcano’s departure in his recent press conference.
Sunderland are preparing for a trip to North London on Saturday, where they will face league leaders Arsenal.
Regis Le Bris confirms Sunderland assistant departure
Former AC Milan coach Vulcano was not present during Sunderland’s thrashing of Burnley, less than a year after his arrival.
In his press conference ahead of the Arsenal clash, Le Bris said: “First of all, I appreciated working with him, as a person and as a professional.
“We decided to stop the collaboration because we didn’t find the right fit in our current staff. The staff is always evolving, like players. We have young members of staff, some of them can step up, some of them can just stay at the same level, and our structure is really dynamic.”
Having started his career with Inter Milan as a match analyst, Vulcano held roles at Fiorentina and AC Milan, before joining Sunderland from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr last summer.
“For Luciano, it wasn’t easy to find the right position, and rather than forcing things, we decided together that it was better to stop there,” added Le Bris.
“Even if we stopped here, he helped the coaching staff, it’s really obvious. But after that, you have to feel good in your daily dynamic, and it was the case for both sides. So I repeat, rather than forcing things, it’s better to stop and wish him the best. I think he’s a good professional, so he will succeed as well.”

Le Bris is the perfect man to lead Sunderland project
A calming presence on the touchline, Le Bris has proven himself to be the perfect man to lead Sunderland as they look to solidify themselves as a top-half Premier League side.
After securing promotion at Wembley last May, Sunderland added a fantastic mix of experience and youth over the summer.
On one end of the spectrum, Granit Xhaka, Nordi Mukiele and Reinildo all joined the club, all carrying vast experience at the highest level of European football.
This was coupled with the additions of Chemsdine Talbi, Noah Sadiki, Habib Diarra and more.

The Frenchman has done a fantastic job of profiling his squad, while introducing the younger players alongside veterans in Xhaka, who has been superb since his move from Bayer Leverkusen.
Sunderland sit eighth in the Premier League, and are well in the hunt for a European spot.
After getting back to winning ways against Burnley last time out, the Black Cats are looking to pick up a huge scalp away at league leaders Arsenal this weekend.
