Regis Le Bris makes ‘satisfying’ Sunderland admission – ‘it’s the way we…’
Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has claimed that “consistency is the key” for the Black Cats so far this season.
The Black Cats, after an impressive start to the campaign, find themselves five points clear at the top of the table, unbeaten at home.
Le Bris has been a hit on Wearside with his style of play but most importantly, with the results he has been able to achieve and he has identified consistency as the key behind it.
In quotes reported by the Sunderland Echo (29 October), he said: “So far, the results have been good and the consistency is the key. It’s the way we can adjust. We have a game plan every time, and sometimes it works well.
“But football is unpredictable, you can have a different scenario [within the game] and you need to adjust some small details to keep the level and control the game. For me, from probably the last five, six, seven games, I feel that we are more agile to adjust these little details according to how the game is evolving to keep our level. This is satisfying for me.”
Sunderland need to maintain their momentum
Perhaps the most promising aspect for Sunderland so far is their ability to win games even when the performance isn’t pretty.
The win away to luton was a prime example where the Black Cats were bullied throughout the game but made their chances count and ultimately picked up a big three points.
While the game certainly hinged on some controversial decisions, it is simply a game that Sunderland would not have won in the past.
A key component to a promotion-winning side is to maintain their ability to achieve results even if performances follow suit and so far, Sunderland have demonstrated that.

With the Christmas period approaching, results are all that matter. Games come thick and fast and it is often seen as make or break part of the season.
The Black Cats remain unbeaten at home following their 2-0 win over Oxford but a third away trip in under two weeks is on the horizon with Le Bris’ side hoping to widen the gap at the top even further with a win at QPR.
In other Sunderland news, Oxford boss Des Buckingham was amazed by Wilson Isidor’s goal that secured all three points for Sunderland.
