Regis Le Bris shares ‘problem’ Sunderland talent Milan Aleksic has at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris says the language is “still a problem” for Milan Aleksic, who is yet to feature since signing for the club in the summer.
Aleksic arrived on Wearside with high hopes and plenty of promise although the 19-year-old Serbian midfielder is yet to play a single minute for Sunderland this season.
His only appearances have come in the form of Under-21 fixtures and Le Bris has explained why.
In quotes reported by the Sunderland Echo (1 November), the Frenchman said: “The language is still a problem for him, although, of course, the main language is football. His development is still in progress, although his individual skills are very interesting – he is quick, he has good technique and he can shoot from a long distance.
“We are working on it. He still needs time, but I am sure he will have some opportunities to get on the pitch for us soon.”
Milan Aleksic is an exciting prospect at Sunderland
The summer signing has already earned international recognition for his performances in his home country prior to his Wearside arrival. Aleksic regularly features for Serbia’s youth sides but has been called up to the first team this season.
A midfielder with an incredible eye for a pass and the ability to score goals from range is arguably something Sunderland have been lacking although the development of Jobe Bellingham has somewhat softened that absence in the squad.
Aleksic only turned 19 last month and he has plenty of potential. While it is important that Sunderland manage that potential, it is still somewhat confusing as to why he hasn’t featured at all.

The Black Cats’ recent win against Oxford was as comfortable as they get and he was named as an unused substitute. Games like that are a great opportunity to ease youngsters into first-team action.
Aleksic will get his time soon and he is certainly a player many are excited to see.
