Regis Le Bris reacts to late Sunderland heartbreak v Millwall
Regis Le Bris admitted it was “difficult” to take as Sunderland left Millwall with a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
Aaron Connoly had put the Mackems ahead at The Den on 23 November, only for Femi Azeez to equalise with almost the last kick of the game.
With the game being delayed after two medical emergencies in the crowd just before half-time, Sunderland and Millwall returned to the dressing rooms before getting underway later.
Speaking to BBC Newcastle after the draw, Le Bris shared his reaction to the late heartbreak at The Den.
“The scenario is difficult to digest but in the second half they deserved to score at least one goal, so it’s not a big surprise [that they equalised] – but over the game, I think we deserved the point and probably, with that scenario, we could have won.”
Sunderland draw late v Millwall
Given that the Londoners were on a cracking run of form, beating Leeds and Burnley, the Mackems were literally seconds away from a huge win.
With the likes of Jobe Bellingham, Romaine Mundle and Dennis Cirkin missing, Le Bris will be pulling his hair out his young side couldn’t hold out.
It is definitely all about taking the positives though, especially as the Championship enters its busiest period of the entire season going into December.
This is where champions and promotion winners are made, and this was a good start to it.

There is no time to dwell on this result and late drama, though.
Sunderland next welcome West Brom to the Stadium of Light on 26 November, before another huge away trip to Sheffield United on 29 November.
Le Bris knows this is where he will find out what his squad is made of, with the Championship table likely to start taking place properly after this week.
