Regis Le Bris has simple decision as Jamie Vardy to Sunderland rumours explode

Jamie Vardy has long been linked with Sunderland.

The striker is yet to find a club since he was released from Leicester City last season.

Vardy left the Foxes a legend after winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield at the East Midlands club.

Sunderland were rumoured to be in for Vardy, and now speculation surrounding the striker has exploded.

Jamie Vardy to Sunderland rumours explode with training ground photo

Regis Le Bris has already strengthened this attack this summer with numerous new faces.

Marc Guiu became Sunderland’s latest signing on Wednesday when the striker joined on loan from Chelsea.

However, the Stadium of Light faithful have now speculated on whether Vardy is set to join the squad over the next few weeks.

The striker posted on his Instagram on 7 August a series of photos of himself training, with one having a Sunderland badge in the background.

This has increased speculation over a potential move, even though the 38-year-old was just using a shared training facility in Portugal that the Black Cats had used weeks prior.

Nevertheless, this is a deal that Le Bris should be chasing over the next few weeks.

Experience is vital when entering a relegation battle, and Vardy has this in abundance.

The former Leicester man has been in multiple relegation battles previously and knows what it takes to stay up.

On top of this, Vardy would be an excellent role model for many of Sunderland’s youngsters to look up to and learn from throughout the season.

Given that the former England international is also on stranger to scoring goals, he could well earn the Black Cats multiple points throughout the upcoming campaign.

How much could Vardy cost Sunderland?

Now that Vardy is a free agent, no fee would have to be paid for the striker to bring him to Wearside.

However, the striker may still ask for a big contract to move to the Stadium of Light.

According to Capaology on 7 August, Vardy was on £140,000-a-week at Leicester last season.

While a wage cut may be expected given his age, even if the striker was on £100,000-a-week, it could still cost Sunderland a minimum of £4.6 million this season.

However, this is obviously much cheaper than paying a big transfer fee for another star on top of their potential wages.
