Regis Le Bris gets it ‘spot on’ in Sunderland confirmed XI v Coventry

Regis Le Bris has named his Sunderland starting XI for their away clash with Coventry City.

Off the back of a controversial 1-1 draw with Preston, Sunderland simply need to find a way to secure all three points against Frank Lampard’s side.

Heading into the game, Sunderland are the perceived underdogs, though with the level of quality in the squad, they should have more than enough to get back to winning ways.

Based on the reaction of supporters, it seems like they have a similar feeling.

Sunderland fans delighted confirmed XI v Coventry

Le Bris has had a number of selection headaches to contend with over the weeks, but the Frenchman has opted to go with a starting 11 that many have been calling for.

Two changes for Sunderland see Chris Rigg and Romaine Mundle come back into the XI in place of Wilson Isidor and Tommy Watson.

Having been introduced as a sub in the draw against Preston, Rigg was excellent and certainly appeared to be back to his best, while Mundle scored the goal to earn Sunderland the point.

Le Bris certainly had options, but his decisions appear to have excited supporters ahead of the clash.

Le Bris needs a win v Coventry

While automatic promotion is drifting away, it is still a distant possibility, but only if the Black Cats can get back to winning ways and find some consistency in their game.

Over the last few weeks, a defeat to Hull City, matched by the draw to Preston have seen the Mackems lose some ground in the race for a top-two finish, but also somewhat lose their way on the pitch.

Regardless of where the Black Cats finish in the table, momentum will be key to success and finding their best form ahead of the final nine games of the season will be paramount to any success that they can achieve.

Coventry have often proved to be the banana skin for Sunderland most seasons, though they simply need to find a way to put an end to their dismal record against the Sky Blues.
