Regis Le Bris exit prediction emerges at Sunderland after what he did

Regis Le Bris could attract interest after his exploits with Sunderland this season.

The French manager has led the Black Cats back to the Premier League after an eight-year absence in his first season in charge.

His side beat Sheffield United in a dramatic 2-1 victory at Wembley (24 May) to seal a historic campaign and put the 49-year-old into the history books in the North East.

That success has led to reports in France claiming that Ligue 1 outfits want to appoint the Mackems’ boss.

Le Bris set to stay at Sunderland

Director of Football Kristjaan Speakman addressed the Frenchman’s contract in a recent interview and claimed that the manager is committed to the the club.

Ian Darke believes that he will have top clubs on notice if he performs well in the top-flight but does not think fans have cause for concern right now.

Speaking exclusively to Mackem News, he said: “I don’t think anybody is coming in for him in the summer, he will definitely be in charge when they start the Premier League campaign.

“I mean, if he goes into the Premier League and Sunderland surpass everyone’s expectations and stay up and look as if they can look after themselves, people will then take notice and say ‘hang on a minute, this guy has got something’.

“His career is on an upward curve but I don’t think there is any serious prospect of him being lured elsewhere.”

Sunderland need to back Le Bris

He has earned himself a stellar reputation among the fanbase at the Stadium of Light but is yet to truly experience a rise to managerial stardom.

That could happen if his side take the top-flight by storm and manage to survive, which seems an increasingly unlikely task given that they have lost star man Jobe Bellingham.

If they are to keep their man and stop clubs in his homeland from tempting him in the future, they need to back him to replace the 19-year-old and make several more additions in the summer transfer window.

Whether he fancies the challenge if his side are relegated back to the Championship, remains to be seen.
