Regis Le Bris drops telling clue on Sunderland striker selection vs Liverpool

Regis Le Bris has suggested that Brian Brobbey may start as Sunderland’s striker against Liverpool on Wednesday.

Sunderland travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool on 3 December, in a match-up that may prove just how far the Black Cats can go in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool are the heavy favourites to beat Sunderland, but the Reds’ recent form may appeal to Le Bris, as an upset could be on the cards.

Brobbey has caused Le Bris headaches in the past over his striker selection, but could now be set for an important role to take on the Reds.

Ahead of the showdown, Le Bris has spoken to the press and explained his admiration for Brobbey, who he thinks has improved massively in recent weeks.

Regis Le Bris suggests Brian Brobbey is ready to start vs Liverpool

Sunderland beat Bournemouth 3-2 last time out and continue to prove the doubters wrong, showing they can achieve dreams beyond Premier League survival.

Le Bris opted to start Wilson Isidor versus the Cherries, and he was replaced by Brobbey in the second half, with the latter scoring the winning goal.

In his press conference, the French head coach responded to a question about whether or not Brobbey will be given the nod ahead of Isidor against the Reds.

Le Bris said: “Now he is at a really good level. He needed time to connect with the squad, and it’s absolutely obvious on the pitch that he is improving a lot.

“His ability to repeat sprints and stay composed with the ball is great for us.”

Brobbey could be primed to lead the Mackems’ front line, while Sunderland will fancy their chances over an unimpressive Liverpool of late.

Sunderland to be purring over recent Liverpool home form

Sunderland have gained seven points on the road already this season, and will no doubt have the belief that they can turn over the defending English champions.

If Sunderland want to push their own limits and achieve European football this season, then these are the types of matches that make or break dreams.

The Mackems are playing Liverpool at potentially the best possible time, given their recent form at home.

Liverpool’s recent home form in all competitions:

A first goal in this game could be crucial for the Black Cats, as it would cause Anfield to become anxious, and it could turn into an unhelpful atmosphere for Liverpool.

Le Bris will no doubt smell blood heading into this one, and Sunderland have every chance of bringing the three points back home.
