Regis Le Bris crucial as Sunderland make history vs Nottingham Forest
Sunderland keep proving their doubters wrong in the Premier League.
Sunderland’s 1-0 win away to Nottingham Forest was their first away victory of the season, though the impact of it is significant.
The Black Cats have now picked up 11 points from their first six games, with 100 per cent of promoted teams in the last 10 years that have picked up the same number of points by gameweek 10 going on to secure survival.
However, Sunderland‘s impressive start to life back in the Premier League goes far beyond that after the latest reveal.

Sundelrand have made their best start to a top-flight campaign
Sunderland’s summer transfer business was a sign that this season would be different, and results since then have only amplified it.
Albeit momentarily, the Black Cats sat third in the Premier League table after six games, showcasing the progress that has been made over the last few months.
- 3 wins
- 1 defeat
- Seven goals scored
- Four goals conceded
- 5th in the Premier League
Not only that, but their 11-point tally at this stage is better than any point return they have managed in the top flight since 1967, as pointed out by Chris Weatherspoon on X.
Under Regis Le Bris, the Wearsiders look to be a competitive Premier League team, despite having suffered several setbacks already this season.
With 32 games still to be played, there is still a very long way to go, but the signs are looking remarkably positive as things stand.
Sunderland are surprising everyone
X bookmarks are a great thing, but many people at the start of the season mooted Sunderland to finish at the very bottom of the Premier League, while others suggested they would break Derby’s lowest point record.
While the former is still a possibility, their start to the campaign has cast a shadow of doubt over those who predicted such a fate for the Black Cats.
Sunderland are yet to get the credit they deserve, with the narrative already focused on the whereabouts of the team’s faced, but for the Black Cats, they just need to keep doing what they are currently.
Le Bris is doing an excellent job at Sunderland, and long may that continue.
