Regis Le Bris could be without star Alan Shearer loves for Sunderland vs Man United as injury concern emerges

Sunderland have built a squad capable of competing in the Premier League even when there are setbacks.

Regis Le Bris was without Habib Diarra for the Black Cats’ trip to Nottingham Forest, but still came up trumps with a 1-0 away win.

Furthermore, Sunderland were without Dan Ballard for several games, but coped just fine with Nordi Mukiele and Omar Alderete, who have been in emphatic form.

Now, Le Bris could be without a player Alan Shearer has lauded for the encounter with Man United after the latest murmurings on Wearside.

Nordi Mukiele an early doubt for Man United clash

Mukiele has been a monster for Sunderland this season and is already emerging as one of the signings of the season.

The defender arrived from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported £12million, but his value has surely skyrocketed after the fine start he has made in the Premier League.

However, there has been talk online that the Frenchman is in doubt to face Man United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

There are rumours that Mukiele has suffered a thigh strain, having worn strapping during Sunderland’s training sessions last week.

Furthermore, it has been suggested that he has undergone a scan for the injury ahead of the trip to the North West.

While there has been no official communication from the North East club, all eyes will be on Le Bris’ pre-match press conference on Friday.

Alan Shearer hailed Nordi Mukiele masterclass for Sunderland

Shearer has continued to praise Sunderland’s players despite his frigidity at the start of the campaign.

To be fair to the Newcastle United legend, it is hard not to, given the early-season performances from Le Bris’ soldiers.

In the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, the Black Cats had to defend resolutely after Reinildo was given a straight red card in the first half.

Following his heroics, Shearer included Mukiele in his team of the week, offering him substantial compliments.

“Only his third Premier League appearance, and with his side down to 10 men after 33 minutes, Mukiele produced a defensive masterclass against Aston Villa as Sunderland earned another impressive point,” he said.

While at this stage it is just speculation, if Sunderland are without Mukiele for the trip to Old Trafford, then he would be a monumental miss.

However, Le Bris has options aplenty and can bring Ballard back into the hub of his sturdy backline.
