Regis Le Bris can boost Sunderland’s survival chances by signing ‘magic’ £17m forward

Sunderland have already strengthened their attack, with several wingers and a new striker already signed.

Simon Adingra and Chemsdine Talbi have arrived at the Stadium of Light and will provide a threat on the wings.

Now, Marc Guiu has finally completed a switch to Sunderland, meaning Regis Le Bris has another striker on his hands.

However, the Black Cats could further boost their survival hopes by signing a £17million forward labelled as magic.

Jonathan Rowe is available for just £17m

Although they have signed Adingra on the left, Sunderland almost completed a deal for Armand Lauriente.

With Romaine Mundle out injured, Le Bris has spoken on the need for added competition in that position.

Look no further than Marseille forward Jonathan Rowe, who is available for just £17million, according to Get French Football News (7 August).

Before moving to Ligue 1, Rowe excelled in the Championship, hence why he secured a move to one of the best teams in France.

The 22-year-old has not enjoyed a smooth transition in France, but that should not take away from his appeal.

Furthermore, in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, Rowe made some statement performances as England lifted the trophy.

Rowe contributed two goals, highlighting that he still has a bright future ahead of him.

Rowe can provide ‘magic’ for Sunderland

Norwich enjoyed a successful season with Rowe in their team, finishing the season in the play-offs.

However, they paid the price for not going up, with Rowe one of several players who departed Carrow Road.

Since then, the Canaries have struggled to hit those heights, and losing Rowe was a key factor.

Shane Duffy played alongside the Englishman, and he was full of admiration for his former teammate.

“Give him a ball like that in that position, and he will do the rest – he’s shown that since the start of the season when he picked up the ball on the halfway line and found the top corner,” Duffy told The Pink Un (13 January 2024).

“Jonny has got that bit of magic for us. He can win us games, and that’s what you need at this level to be successful.”

Now that Sunderland have Guiu, they may not add another winger, but previous words from Le Bris suggest otherwise.

Indeed, they could raid Ligue 1 yet again, a division that has borne fruit for the North East club of late.
