Source shares how much Chelsea and Manchester United will have to pay for Sunderland ace Rigg – report
Sunderland have reportedly slapped a “£25-£30million” price tag on the head of teenage sensation Chris Rigg ahead of anticipated January interest, as per CaughtOffside.
Rigg has been in the spotlight ever since his first team debut at the age of 15 and his exemplary performances so far this season have only added to that.
The 17-year-old has been a mainstay in Regis Le Bris’ starting 11 and has attracted suitors from all over the world. However, a report from CaughtOffside (25 October) suggests clubs will have to pay a sizeable fee to land his signature.
The report reads: “Sources have told CaughtOffside that both Premier League giants (Chelsea and Man United) have been closely monitoring the attacking midfielder’s development, with scouts present at the Black Cats’ recent matches against Leeds United, Hull City and Luton Town.
“CaughtOffside sources have indicated that the current Championship leaders – who will clearly be loathe to lose one of their up-and-coming stars – have slapped a price tag of £25m-£30m on the player’s head.”
Chris Rigg is worth more than £30m to Sunderland
The Black Cats have had a remarkable campaign so far, winning nine of their 12 games. The form has Sunderland sitting five points clear at the top of the table and Rigg has played a crucial role in that.
With three goals to his name from midfield, Rigg has epitomised everything that is needed for a midfielder to thrive in Le Bris’ system and losing him at any price would cause a huge dent in their promotion hopes.
The 17-year-old has performed consistently alongside Jobe Bellingham and have formed one of the best midfield partnerships in the division.

After all, promotion would bank a lot more money than any Rigg sale could and he can be the difference between achieving it or not.
If Sunderland can achieve promotion, Rigg’s value immediately doubles and while £30m is a significant fee for a Championship player, it is one that Sunderland should not even be considering this January.
