Sunderland fans will be less than impressed with the Premier League’s latest announcement, as it will have a big impact on future games.
The Black Cats are still celebrating after Nick Woltemade’s own goal saw them beat Newcastle United 1-0 in the Wear-Tyne derby.
Sunderland have not lost against Newcastle in the Premier League since 2011, and extended their unbeaten run to 10 games with the win on Sunday.
Regis Le Bris’ side are now up to eighth, just two points behind Crystal Palace in fifth as their incredible start to the season continues.

Premier League have made ridiculous Sunderland decision
As we move towards the halfway point of the campaign, Sunderland have almost played every team in the Premier League once.
Moving into 2026, the Black Cats will begin taking on sides for the second time, with the feeling that they are now a solid top-flight outfit.
The Premier League has now announced the TV games for next February, and any potential date or time changes to accommodate.
Sunderland have two matches on Sky Sports, against Burnley and Fulham, as well as two on TNT Sports, as they take on Liverpool and Bournemouth.
Unfortunately for Sunderland fans, their trip to Vitality Stadium to face Andoni Iraola’s side has been moved to a 12:30 pm kick-off on Saturday 28 February.
Mackems will be forced to leave ridiculously early, in order to ensure they get down to the south coast in good time.

Sunderland fans raging at Premier League ignorance
Unsurprisingly, Sunderland fans are less than impressed with the Premier League after scheduling the Bournemouth game in the lunchtime slot.
It is one of the longest away days of the season, and it will likely take supporters six hours to make the 350-mile journey to Vitality Stadium.
One fan called the decision a “disgrace for travelling fans”, who may have to leave as early as 5am for the trip to Bournemouth
The same sentiment was shared by others, with many agreeing that the Premier League are failing to consider supporters before making TV decisions.
Around 1,500 Sunderland fans will make the trip down to Bournemouth at the end of February, in what is the Black Cats’ first visit to Vitality Stadium since 2017.
