‘Petrovic announcement imminent’ as Sunderland and Chelsea transfer fee shared
Djordje Petrovic has been linked with a move to Sunderland, and an announcement on the Chelsea goalkeeper’s future appears to be imminent.
After Sunderland missed out on the signing of Marcin Bulka, who opted for a move to Neom in the Saudi Pro League instead, Sunderland have since turned their attention to Petrovic, who spent the last campaign on loan at Strasbourg.
The Serbian international thrived throughout his spell in France, and with Chelsea stockpiling ‘keepers of their own, his future at Stamford Bridge seems dull.
Sunderland have already registered their interest in signing Petrovic, and it seems as though a deal is close.

Signing a new striker and a new goalkeeper will be high up on the list of priorities for the Black Cats this summer, who have already made significant progress with the club-record signing of Habib Diarra.
His arrival showcased the fact that the Wearsiders won’t be afraid to splash the cash this summer, with another multi-million pound arrival expected with Noah Sadiki.

However, the next could arrive in the form of a goalkeeper, with a report from The Guardian (4 July) stating that a deal for Petrovic could be sealed by Monday, in a transfer worth £21.5million.
Given his age and pedigree, his addition would be another statement one at the Stadium of Light, though it could spell bad news for Anthony Patterson.
Patterson could be next out of door at Sunderland
PSR isn’t a big issue for Sunderland right now, but the sale of Patterson would go down as pure profit, which is a major green flag when it comes to adhering to the restrictions.
If Petrovic arrives, Patterson will drop to the bench, and his value will only decrease as a result.
Despite his heroics in the play-off final, there is every chance that the arrival of a new number one could spell the end of Patterson’s time on Wearside.
