Omar Alderete return latest as Regis Le Bris shares Sunderland update vs Everton

Regis Le Bris has addressed the press ahead of Sunderland’s clash with Everton.

Sunderland host Everton at the Stadium of Light on Monday night, with the Black Cats looking to improve on what has already been their best start to a Premier League campaign for 26 years.

A win for Sunderland would take them to 20 points, which is often seen as the halfway point when it comes to survival in the top flight.

With that in mind, Le Bris has provided an update on the availability of Omar Alderete.

Omar Alderete update emerges ahead of Everton test

Despite only being nine games into the season, Sunderland have a lengthy injury list that features the likes of Habib Diarra, Alderete, and Aji Alese, the latter of whom is yet to feature for the Black Cats in the Premier League.

However, Alderete is “getting better”, said Le Bris in his press conference, meaning it is likely that the Paraguayan could make the Everton clash.

He missed the win at Stamford Bridge as a result of concussion protocol, but has returned to first-team training since.

Should that be the case, it would leave the Frenchman with a dilemma at the back, with Dan Ballard, Nordi Mukiele and Lutsharel Geertruida all more than worthy of a spot in the team.

Everton are favourites to beat Sunderland, but Alderete’s pending return could give the Black Cats the boost they need.

Wilson Isidor can join exclusive club vs Everton

Wilson Isidor remains the most likely to lead the line against Everton, and after an impressive start to the campaign, he can do something that has only been seen a handful of times at the Stadium of Light.

A goal against the Toffees would take him to five from 10 games, which is a record only four players can better or match.

Isidor’s stats this season

Those being Steven Fletcher, Kevin Phillips, Darren Bent and Asamoah Gyan.

Fletcher scored five in his first four Premier League appearances for the Black Cats, with Gyaan waiting until his 10th appearance to reach that tally.
