Nottingham Forest vs Sunderland result predicted by supercomputer

Sunderland return to Premier League action next weekend with an away clash against Nottingham Forest.

Sunderland picked up another valuable point at home to Aston Villa on Sunday, retaining their unbeaten home status at the Stadium of Light.

However, the Black Cats are still searching for their first away win of the season, having fallen to defeat against Burnley and secured a point against Crystal Palace.

Ange Postecoglou, who was once linked with the Sunderland job, is also searching for his first win as Forest boss, and will have earmarked this game as a chance to do that.

Sunderland (again) underdogs for Nottingham Forest clash

One day, Sunderland will get the attention they deserve, and not just the label of another newly-promoted side.

Each game, the Black Cats have been written off, and this weekend’s encounter with Nottingham Forest is no different.

Via Opta, Forest have a 61.5 per cent chance of taking all three points, while the Black Cats have just an 18.2 per cent chance, making them the last likely team in the league to win this weekend.

Forest have won just once this season, resulting in them being 15th in the table, three points behind Sunderland.

For the sixth time this season, Regis Le Bris‘ will look to prove their doubters wrong and cause another upset.

Home form is going to be crucial, but if Sunderland are to avoid the drop, they need to find the occasional win away from home.

Sunderland vs Nottingham Forest head-to-head

Dating all the way back to 1891, Sunderland have faced off against Nottingham Forest on 97 occasions, and come out on top on 40 occasions.

Forest have won 33 of the encounters, with 24 ending in a draw.

Sunderland have lost just one of their last six encounters with Forest, having won the other five, with the most recent one ending in a 1-0 win back in 2017.

Historic results mean nothing in the grand scheme of things, but small indications like this can spur a side on that little bit further, and with the Black Cats still searching for their first away win, they need plenty of encouragement.
