Nordi Mukiele set to be joined by another new signing at Sunderland

Sunderland are closing in on the signing of Nordi Mukiele from PSG.

Regis Le Bris will be delighted with the level of progress made on the recruitment front at Sunderland, and they have shown no signs of stopping there.

Mukiele is expected to be the next arrival at the Stadium of Light, after a fee was agreed for his transfer with Ligue 1 giants PSG.

He will join Reinildo, Arthur Masuaku and Omar Alderete as the Black Cats look to strengthen their defensive options, with another signing said to be close as well.

Who will Sunderland sign after Mukiele?

Via a report from The i Paper on 17 August, Sunderland are closing in on two new additions, having already made 11 signings this summer.

Mukiele is one of them arriving at the Stadium of Light, and the identity of the second remains unknown, though based on Le Bris’ recent comments, guesses can be made.

Sunderland’s business so far

The Frenchman previously hinted at attacking reinforcements, and there is a strong case to be made that the second arrival could be a winger.

Both Simon Adingra and Chemsdine Talbi registered an assist in Sunderland’s 3-0 win against West Ham, though AFCON will throw up a new challenge.

The pair will be absent from Wearside to compete in AFCON over December, leaving the injured Romaine Mundle and Patrick Roberts as the only options.

Sunderland are set to make Premier League history

With the pending arrival of Mukiele, Sunderland’s summer spending will surpass £138million, making them the highest spending promoted club in Premier League history.

If this mystery new signing is true, which, based on reports of Sunderland signing a new striker proving to be false, could be misleading, it would see that transfer outlay increase even more.

It was evident that Sunderland had the most business to do this summer out of the promoted clubs, and they have passed that test with flying colours.
