Nordi Mukiele reacts as midfielder finalises big-money transfer amid Sunderland speculation

Nordi Mukiele’s former France teammate has completed a transfer amid links connecting him with a move to Sunderland.

Sunderland have yet to make any additions in January, though Regis Le Bris hasn’t ruled future arrivals out at the Stadium of Light.

The main focus will be on outgoings this month, with Dan Neil and Romaine Mundle both linked with a move to Rangers.

However, there have been a handful of players linked with a Wearside switch, one of whom has since completed a move elsewhere.

Matteo Guendouzi seals Lazio exit

Sunderland had been heavily linked with Matteo Guendouzi in January, with the main connection being as a result of his relationship with Le Bris.

The French duo spent time together at FC Lorient in Ligue 1 before they both went their separate ways.

Given the likelihood of Neil leaving, Guendouzi’s arrival seemed reasonable, but the Frenchman has since completed a move to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce for a fee in the region of £26million.

Guendouzi shared a farewell post on his Instagram to Lazio supporters, expressing how much he enjoyed his time in Italy, with Mukiele liking the message.

As for Sunderland, it remains to be seen if they are still pursuing other midfield targets, amid links connecting Conor Gallagher with a move to the Stadium of Light.

What is the latest Sunderland exit news?

A report from the Scottish Sun states that Rangers are closing in on a move for Neil, which would come as very little surprise given his lack of gametime this season.

Mundle, on the other hand, would be a shock departure, given the fact that he is one of four wingers at the Stadium of Light, none of whom have really set the Premier League alight.

Elsewhere, the Black Cats have confirmed three loan exits for some of their academy stars.

Zak Johnson and Oli Bainbridge have extended their stay at York City and South Shields, respectively, while Jake Waters has also sealed a short-term move to Spennymoor Town.

Jay Matete has completed a permanent move to MK Dons, with several others likely to follow the 24-year-old through the exit door at the Stadium of Light in the coming days and weeks.
