Nordi Mukiele immense, 3/10 useless – Sunderland player ratings vs Wolves

Sunderland gained another three points in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory against Wolves on Saturday.

Off the back of Sunderland’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United before the international break, the Black Cats needed to bounce back.

The game was Reinildo’s final game of suspension after receiving a red card in Sunderland’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

Nordi Mukiele opened the scoring for the Black Cats after a neat one-two with Trai Hume, as the Frenchman squeezed the ball through Wolves keeper Sam Johnstone to open up his Sunderland account.

Sunderland almost doubled their lead a few minutes later as Hume struck the crossbar with a header from point-blank range.

Wolves piled on the pressure for the whole of the second half, but substitute Chemsdine Talbi forced an own goal in stoppage time to seal the win for the Mackems.

Nordi Mukiele was everywhere for Sunderland

The goal was one to remember for Mukiele, but it was his all-round performance which impressed.

The Frenchman troubled Wolves all game with long throws, which have proved to be an extra weapon for Regis Le Bris‘s men.

Mukiele was deployed by Le Bris as a right-back but swapped sides constantly with Hume throughout the game with his goal coming from inside the left side of the Wolves box.

He was crossing, attacking, winning duels, and brought much more than just his goal, as Mukiele keeps going from strength to strength.

Bertrand Traore was terrible vs Wolves

Bertrand Traore was handed his second Premier League start for Sunderland but failed to impress.

Sunderland didn’t find much success down the right-hand side with Traore in right-wing as the forward simply couldn’t keep hold of the ball.

On the rare occasion he kept the ball, he did nothing with it and was frequently dispossessed by the opposition.

Subsequently, the winger was hooked in the 63rd minute and replaced by Talbi, who looked a lot more effective.
