Newcastle star Sven Botman has already suggested he’s scared of ‘very strong’ Sunderland gem

Sven Botman will be dreading the thought of playing Sunderland after comments made on one of their latest additions.

Sunderland secured 15 new arrivals this summer, though the early departure of Marc Guiu back to Chelsea is included in that.

After promotion from the Championship, the Black Cats knew that they were going to have to invest, and they have achieved just that, becoming the 10th highest spenders in world football as a result.

Sunderland‘s summer spending surpasses £160million, also making them the 20th highest spending club ever in English football.

Granit Xhaka’s arrival at the Stadium of Light hit the headlines, though it is one of the more recent additions that will spark the interest of Newcastle defender Botman.

Sven Botman is frightened of Brian Brobbey

Three new arrivals checked into Wearside on deadline day, with Brian Bobbey’s move to Sunderland one of those confirmed.

The 23-year-old joined on a permanent deal from Ajax, where he had showcased his ability in front of goal on several occasions.

However, in a TikTok video surfacing recently, Botman was asked if there has been one striker he has faced whom he thought he would have to work hard against.

His answer? Brobbey.

“He is strong”, said Botman, seconds after exhaling a deep breath.

Robiun Roefs reveals why Brian Brobbey can be a Premier League star

Robin Roefs and Jenson Seelt were the only Dutchmen at Sunderland before deadline day, with Brobbey and Lutsharel Geertruida joining them from Ajax and Leipzig, respectively.

The latter two have featured regularly for their country, while Roefs earned his first senior call-up after impressing for Sunderland in the Premier League.

Providing they can hit the ground running after the international break, there is every chance that all three could be named in the next Netherlands squad.

When news of Brobbey’s move to Sunderland broke, Roefs was asked about the signing, and in a video shared by ESPN, he said: “We have a few Dutch players, so that’s nice. I think they are very good players.

“Brobbey is very strong, and the Premier League is very physical. So I think he fits in well. But I think he is a very good player, very strong. And I think he can show his qualities.”
