Newcastle fan perfectly sums up Morgan Rogers beef with Sunderland in shock reaction to footage

Morgan Rogers was furious with Trai Hume and, in particular, the Sunderland social media team after Sunday’s game.

Sunderland secured a valuable point at home to Aston Villa on Sunday, despite playing an hour of the game with ten men.

Reinildo was sent off for perceived violent conduct, though his dismissal spurred the Black Cats on further in the game.

Not just from the goal’s point of view, but also the aggression in the game from then on, with one moment leaving Rogers furious.

Even Newcastle fans are defending Trai Hume…

Rogers called out the Sunderland social team for sharing and glorifying the footage of Hume’s challenge to him.

In the end, a corner was given that Aston Villa would score from, but many fans have now questioned why Hume wasn’t sent off for his challenge.

Yes, you read that right. Fans actually called for Hume to be given a red card for a challenge where he won the ball.

With that said, there have also been a handful of supporters from around England defending the challenge, with one Newcastle fan saying via X that it was a “mint tackle” and that any other supporter would be “buzzing” if it were a challenge by one of their own.

He makes a very fair point, echoed surprisingly by another Newcastle supporter.

Fans of other clubs also defended the challenge, with one supporter saying “the player got the ball” and that Rogers should “stop whinging”.

Reaction to Trai Hume challenge shows football is going in the wrong direction

Reinildo was sent off for a feint touch that sent Matty Cash into a series of barrel rolls. By the laws of the game, was it a red? Yes. Is it a sad state of affairs that Cash had to react like that to get the decision? Also yes.

Hume’s challenge was a hard one, but several angles showcase the fact that he played the ball first.

Not too long ago, fans from every club would be cheering a challenge like that, just as they did when Roy Keane and the likes were dominating top-flight football.

At the end of the day, maybe if Rogers had put as much thought into his performance as he did into the reaction to a challenge, he wouldn’t have been jeered off the pitch by his own supporters.
