Nectar Triantis makes Sunderland exit decision as West Brom line up deal

Nectar Triantis is looking more and more likely to leave Sunderland this summer.

While Sunderland’s 3-0 win over West Ham showcased the quality of their new arrivals, it also told a story about those who didn’t feature.

Triantis is one of those who were absent from the squad, having been linked with an exit from Sunderland ever since returning from his loan spell at Hibernian.

The Australian made it clear that he wanted to stay and fight for his place under Regis Le Bris, though that may have changed after the latest update.

Sunderland are ready to sell Triantis

Hibernian have remained in the race to sign Triantis all summer, and according to Alan Nixon via his Patreon on 17 August, the Black Cats are trying to facilitate that move.

However, Triantis himself is said to be unsure on the move, and is instead considering a move to Europe, after Mackem News revealed that West Brom were lining up a move for the defender-turned midfielder.

It’s hard to see a way into the Sunderland team for him this season, especially given the performance of Dan Ballard against West Ham.

The Black Cats are still looking to do more business, with it claimed that two new arrivals are close at the Stadium of Light, with Nordi Mukiele being one of them.

Triantis is unlikely to command a significant fee, though any profit made on his signing will inevitably go back into the transfer kitty for Le Bris to utilise.

Dan Neil and several others who could leave Sunderland this month

Triantis is just one of many who Sunderland may look to offload this month, with Dan Neil also potentially on his way out.

The 23-year-old has decided he wants to stay at Sunderland, but his contract situation will be a red flag for those at the Stadium of Light.

In six months, he is able to negotiate a free transfer abroad, and that would leave Sunderland in a poor position, given the boost they could receive from his sale this summer.

Abdoullah Ba, Timothee Pembele and Nazari Rusyn are just three of many others who could leave in the next two weeks, with plenty of deadwood needing to be shifted.
