Nazariy Rusyn set for January Sunderland exit – report

Nazariy Ruysn looks set to end his Sunderland nightmare with a January exit looking likely, according to Dmytro Vienkov.

The Ukrainian journalist reported via his Telegram (17 December) that a “final decision” has been made on Rusyn with an exit in the upcoming January transfer window in mind.

Rusyn has struggled for gametime on Wearside with Wilson Isidor preferred up top and with Eliezer Mayenda and Aaron Connolly also ahead of the Ukranian, his future looks bleak.

No indication has been made whether Rusyn would depart on loan or permanently but one of the two looks almost inevitable.

While the Black Cats have found success with Isidor, their woes in replacing Ross Stewart have been a consistent concern throughout the past few transfer windows.

Rusyn is one of many strikers to have failed to make an impact at the Stadium of Light although you could potentially make a case for him deserving more minutes than he has received.

Nevertheless, his exit looks almost nailed on and it could open the door for a new striker recruit in January in a bid to strengthen their promotion chances.

The Wearsiders have had an excellent campaign so far but attacking frailties have started to catch up with them and it will undoubtedly be a priority ahead of the transfer window.

Attacking depth and quality will be crucial to any hopes of a Premier League return although the club will be boosted when the likes of Romaine Mundle and Tommy Watson return from two lengthy injuries.
