Triantis lined up for Sunderland exit as speculation continues

Jobe Bellingham and Tommy Watson have been some high-profile departures so far this transfer window, with more on the way.

Nectarios Triantis could also be on his way out, with the Australian being linked with an exit from Wearside.

According to the Edinburgh News (13 June), the midfielder is wanted by at least two MLS clubs.

Triantis was signed by Sunderland for £300,000 in June 2023, but has only made five appearances for the club.

Midfield reinforcements are expected, so the 22-year-old is set to depart in search of guaranteed football.

The former Central Coast Mariner has spent the last two seasons on loan at Hibs, where he has greatly impressed.

The Scottish side are thought to be keen on making Triantis a permanent signing, who Sunderland value at £1million.

The midfielder won the Young Player of the Year award at Easter Road and was a key part of David Gray’s side.

He also made the shortlist for the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year, missing out to Daizen Maeda.

Rangers are another Scottish club expected to be vying for the Australian’s signature on loan.

The 22-year-old has yet to make his Socceroos debut despite being called up and will see his next move as key for a World Cup place next summer.

Dan Neil is attracting interest from Serie A giants Roma, with Everton also sounding out a move for the skipper.

Patrick Roberts may also be on his way out, with Leeds United eyeing the former Manchester City man.

Jordan Henderson could be set for a sensational return to Wearside as Sunderland consider bringing in experience to the middle of the park.
