Millwall boss Neil Harris makes ‘huge’ Sunderland admission
Neil Harris has claimed his Millwall side will need to “humble another huge football club” when they host Sunderland on Saturday.
With several first-team players ruled out, an away trip to the Den will prove to be a massive test for Sunderland against a very physical Millwall team.
Millwall have already got the better of Burnley and Leeds United this season and Harris has targeted the trifecta when they host the Black Cats.
In quotes reported by Southwark News (19 November), Harris said: “You get to the fifteen games, they [Sunderland] are at the top of the league for a reason. I think 15 games in, it’s a relatively fair reflection.
“Sunderland are top and they’re good at lots of different things and that’s why they’re top of the league and they’ve got some real individual ability as well.
“The players are ready for it and we’ve just got to try and go humble another huge football club in this division.”
Millwall result won’t be season-defining for Sunderland
Given that the Black Cats have failed to win their previous three games, a trip to face Millwall on 23 November presents itself as a must-win for some.
However, with the likes of Trai Hume, Jobe Bellingham and Patrick Roberts all sidelined, any result would be an excellent one.
Harris’ side have already beaten some of Sunderland’s closest promotion rivals and it will be a stern test for the Black Cats to come away from the Den anything other than empty-handed.
Games against West Brom and Sheffield United may be the telling factors in Sunderland’s promotion credentials with both sides expected to be up at the top come the end of the campaign.

Regis Le Bris will have several decisions to make ahead of the encounter with as many as five first-team players potentially set to be absent.
Of course, getting back to winning ways would be huge for the Wearsiders, especially against a side that have been the cause of downfall for several clubs.
In other Sunderland news, Aaron Connolly has praised Regis Le Bris as the Irishman continues to settle in on Wearside.
