‘Mikautadze agreement hours away’ as Sunderland set to learn transfer fate

Georges Mikautadze has been heavily linked with Sunderland this summer.

With Noah Sadiki’s arrival imminent, Sunderland have already splashed the cash and have shown no signs of stopping there.

Several more additions are expected at the Stadium of Light, with Mikautadze one of those linked with a move.

Florent Ghisolfi reportedly tried to bring Lyon forward Mikautadze to Roma before his move to Sunderland, with a new update emerging on his future.

Roma set to reach agreement Mikautadze transfer

Regis Le Bris’ side have shown some serious ambition this summer, and that was only amplified when they were linked with a move for Georgia forward Mikautadze.

The 24-year-old has caught the eye in Ligue 1, and with Lyon’s pending relegation due to financial debt, his exit is expected.

It was recently reported that Sunderland were in negotiations with the striker, but the latest update from One Football suggests that a move elsewhere is on the cards.

It is claimed that Roma could be set to reach an agreement in “the next few hours” that would see Mikautadze join the Serie A giants.

Roma are said to be pushing forward with a proposal of £15.5million, and time will only tell if that deal progresses.

Sunderland have no need to worry this summer

Mikautadze would be a remarkable addition, but the latest reports suggest that a move to Wearside may be a less likely outcome this summer, and it would be somewhat of a blow for Sunderland.

However, as already showcased with the done deals and rumoured incomings, the Black Cats have plenty of targets for each position.

With that said, bolstering their forward line will be a priority this summer, and with pre-season due to get underway today, it will be crucial that those attempts are accelerated in the coming days.
