Matteo Guendouzi to have played final Lazio game after Sunderland transfer developments
Sunderland could be about to move one step closer to the signing of Matteo Guendouzi.
European football is in sight for Sunderland, and with a top 10 placement guaranteed until the new year at least, that is likely to be reflected in January.
The Black Cats are expected to be active in the transfer window, having already been linked with several stars from across Europe.
Guendouzi is one of those to have been mooted for a move, and after the latest news from the Stadium of Light, a deal could progress in the coming days.

Dan Neil exit could open door for Guendouzi arrival
Dan Neil has yet to start a Premier League game for his boyhood club this summer, and with just six months left on his contract, there is every chance he will be moved on in January.
Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon this week that West Brom want to sign the 24-year-old, with Coventry also believed to be in the race.
As for his replacement, Guendouzi has been linked with a move to Sunderland, and after he picked up a yellow card on his previous outing for Lazio, he may never play again for the Serie A outfit.
He will serve a suspension when Lazio face Udinese on 27 December, with his return not expected until 4 December.

Given the interest from Sunderland and the links to Regis Le Bris, there is a possibility that a deal will be struck before then.

Sunderland could benefit significantly from Neil sale in January
Sunderland are in a strong PSR position as it is, but with several players expected to be moved on in January, that will only improve.
If Neil were to leave the Stadium of Light, and for a fee, it would go down as pure profit, which, from a PSR perspective, is a huge green flag.
It would allow the Black Cats to invest even more back into their squad, with hopes of continuing their push for European football.
Anthony Patterson is also in a similar position, having been linked with a move to Leicester City.
