Amad Diallo has announced his affinity towards Sunderland as they set their sights on earning promotion to the Premier League.

Sunderland edged another step closer towards earning promotion after beating Coventry City 2-1 in the first leg of their playoff semi-final on Friday (9 May).

The Black Cats are just 90 minutes at the Stadium of Light away from booking their place in the final at Wembley later this month.

Therefore, Regis Le Bris and Co. will be determined to defend their one-goal lead when the Sky Blues travel to Wearside for the second leg of the tie on Tuesday, 13 May.

Everyone associated with Sunderland is eager to see if they can go all the way in the Championship playoffs and earn promotion.

Diallo is among those who are watching the Black Cats closely as they prepare for a big game at the Stadium of Light.

The Manchester United ace may have only spent one season with the Wearside-based club on loan, but it is evident that he still holds them close to his heart.

This is why Diallo took to social media to wish Sunderland all the luck just before they lock horns with Coventry in the first leg of the tie on Friday.

"I want to wish Good luck to Sunderland for the semis", Diallo wrote on his personal X handle (9 May) along with a heart and fingers-crossed emoji.

Le Bris eyeing Premier League promotion

Having taken a one-goal lead against Coventry away from home, Sunderland already have one foot in the Championship final at Wembley.

The two sides played out a 2-2 draw when they last met at the Stadium of Light. Le Bris' side will be hopeful of getting a similar result on Tuesday.

Should they get past Frank Lampard's side, the Black Cats are likely to face Sheffield United in the play-off final, as the Blades have already taken a three-goal lead against Bristol City.

If everything goes to plan, Le Bris could lead Sunderland to promotion in his first season on English soil.
