Sunderland have surpassed many people's predictions in the Premier League with some outstanding results.

Some might argue that the Wearsiders have had favourable fixtures, but picking up five points from Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest is no easy task.

Regis Le Bris' side travel to Man United on Saturday afternoon, eyeing a second successive away win in the top flight.

Now, Jamie Carragher has shared his score prediction for the 3pm encounter at Old Trafford.

Jamie Carragher predicts Sunderland to draw with Man United

Carragher has tipped Sunderland to be relegated this season, doubling down on the prediction he made before the start of the campaign.

While there is every chance that it could still happen, the early signs suggest otherwise as Le Bris' men look comfortable in the Premier League.

A trip to Old Trafford used to strike fear into Man United's opponents, but it is a prospect that is far less daunting this season.

Ruben Amorim's team have been unable to find any sort of momentum, but their two wins over Burnley and Chelsea did come on home soil.

  • The Red Devils have never won successive Premier League games under Amorim
  • They occupy 14th position in the table
  • Only three points above the relegation zone

Despite winning their last two at home, Carragher believes that the Black Cats will take points home from Old Trafford on Saturday.

"Sunderland have had a brilliant return to the Premier League and will take points away from Man Utd on Saturday," he said via Sky Sports Super 6.

The former Liverpool man went on to predict a 1-1 draw for the Premier League encounter.

Ruben Amorim's record suggests Black Cats will take points

Indeed, if the Black Cats continue to play as they have done under Le Bris, then the Red Devils will struggle to break them down.

While the Wearsiders have a poor record at Old Trafford, they can be buoyed by Amorim's exploits on home soil.

Although they have won their last two at the Theatre of Dreams, United have never won three successive home games under Amorim.

Now, it is up to the North East club to land the killer blow on Amorim, and if they do, then his time is surely up.
