Marc Guiu’s Sunderland spell could be over already after big news at Chelsea

Marc Guiu joined Sunderland this summer on loan from Chelsea.

The striker has already made two appearances for the Black Cats, and scored in their defeat to Huddersfield in the Carabao Cup.

Guiu no doubt impressed for Sunderland against Huddersfield, and there was a real hope that he could kick on at the Stadium of Light after netting his first goal.

However, the 19-year-old’s stay at the Black Cats could be set to come to a quick end.

Chelsea consider recalling Marc Guiu

Sunderland’s signing of Guiu was no doubt considered a coup.

The striker featured regularly for Chelsea last season in the Europa Conference League and netted six times in the competition.

However, according to The Telegraph on 31 August, Chelsea are now considering recalling Guiu.

Liam Delap’s injury during their 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday has caused the Blues to quickly search for a replacement.

While Nicolas Jackson’s loan move to Bayern Munich could be put on hold, the striker is holding out for the move to the German giants.

Chelsea are also considering making a move for a new striker, with Sporting’s Conrad Harder on their radar.

Another option for the Blues could be to cancel Guiu’s loan at the Black Cats and bring him back to Stamford Bridge.

However, it is understood there is no immediate break clause in Guiu’s loan, which means Chelsea would have to do a deal with the Black Cats to see him return.

Sunderland need to quickly identify striker options

If Sunderland do go allow Guiu to return, Le Bris has to bring in another striker.

Therefore, Le Bris has to prepare and identify potential striker targets before the transfer window closes.

Lois Openda was previously linked to Sunderland, and this interest could once again be reignited.

However, given how prepared Le Bris has been this window, the manager no doubt has some potential targets in mind.
