Marc Guiu given the nod in eight changes – Sunderland predicted XI vs Brentford

Sunderland’s Carabao Cup defeat against Huddersfield has made it rather simple for Regis Le Bris to pick his lineup for the Brentford clash.

Sunderland crashed out of the Carabao Cup at home to Huddersfield on Tuesday night, with Milan Aleksic’s missed penalty proving to be decisive.

While a cup run would have been nice, Sunderland will be well aware of the fact that Premier League survival has to be their number one priority.

With that in mind, Le Bris could make eight changes to his side when Sunderland return to the Stadium of Light to face Brentford on Saturday.

Nordi Mukiele to make Premier League debut vs Brentford

Robin Roefs is nailed on to return in goal for the Black Cats, with an unconvincing display from Anthony Patterson last time out.

Le Bris will look to return to his strongest defensive shape for the Brentford clash, with Trai Hume and Reinildo both returning at full-back.

Dan Ballard’s injury against Burnley will rule him out of this one, with Nordi Mukiele expected to make his Premier League debut after a fruitful display against the Terriers.

Omar Alderete is likely to partner him, having started on the left side of defence last time out in the league.

Granit Xhaka will captain the lads in midfield, with Noah Sadiki and Habib Diarra both expected to return to the starting 11 alongside him.

Marc Guiu to lead the line for Sunderland

Sunderland lacked any attacking threat from the wing against Huddersfield, with Patrick Roberts’ performance against Huddersfield sparking concern.

He could, however, be given a chance to prove his worth in a stronger XI, with Simon Adingra expected to return to the lineup.

Eliezer Mayenda’s miss against the Clarets proved costly on his last outing, and he could be dropped to the bench in favour of Marc Guiu.

Guiu scored on his Sunderland debut against Huddersfield, and could be afforded the chance to showcase his worth in a full-strength 11.
