Man United vs Sunderland postponement latest as Met Office issue new Storm Amy warning

Sunderland are due to travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United this weekend.

Ruben Amorim is under increasing pressure at Man United as his side look to welcome the Black Cats to Old Trafford for the first time since 2017.

The Wearsiders have picked up 11 points already this season, while the Red Devils have only accumulated 15 since April, showcasing the turmoil they currently find themselves in.

However, ahead of the game, a Met Office weather warning has been put in place, which could affect Saturday’s clash at Old Trafford.

Yellow weather warning in place in parts outside of Manchester

Saturday will see Sunderland face off against Manchester United, but it will also see Storm Army reach parts of Manchester.

Via the Met Office, there is a yellow weather warning in place for parts just outside of Manchester, with gusts of over 80mph expected in some regions of the affected areas.

While the game is under no immediate threat of being postponed, it could cause disruptions to travel arrangements, especially for those travelling from Wearside.

At the time of kick-off, which is scheduled for 3pm, there is a 60 per cent chance of rainfall, and just 58 per cent humidity in the region of Manchester.

Given Sunderland’s current form in the Premier League and Manchester United’s lack of it, the Black Cats will be hoping the game goes ahead as planned.

Thankfully, it seems like that will be the case, aside from the aforementioned disruptions.

Sunderland can secure statement victory vs Man United

Sunderland have shocked everyone with how well they have started the season, and while Man United may not be the same team they used to be, they still pose a significant threat.

It will have to be another strong performance from Regis Le Bris’ side to come away from Old Trafford with anything, though, as they have already shown on several occasions this season, they are more than capable of it.

Man United may be favourites to beat Sunderland, but early results have showcased exactly why football is not played on paper.
