Liverpool want to sign Sunderland gem Trey Ogunsuyi – report
Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Sunderland youngster Trey Ogunsuyi who was named on the bench for the Black Cats’s draw to Millwall, according to the Sunderland Echo.
The online report (24 November) states that the Merseyside club missed out on signing Ogunsuyi as a scholar and have since reignited their interest in the Belgian youth international.
At Under-21/18 level, Ogunsuyi has registered an impressive 11 goal contributions in seven games and was rewarded for his performances by being named in the senior squad against Millwall.
Sunderland must fight off interest in youth players
Sunderland have an excellent reputation for developing players through their top-of-the-art youth facilities, several of which were involved on Saturday (23 November) against Millwall.
Quite remarkably, 27 per cent of the players on the pitch at The Den, were Sunderland academy prospects (Michael Graham on X).
Ogunsuyi is the latest youth product to have impressed and the level of potential in the youth international is frightening and the interest from Liverpool comes as no real surprise.
However, the Mackems need to keep their talent. Chris Rigg, Dan Neil and several others have made the step up to first team in recent years and developed massively as players.

As a result, their price tags have gone up considerably while contributing massively to the on-field performances of the club.
While it may prove a difficult task, the Wearsiders need to do all they can to keep Ogunsuyi at the club and to do so, a new contract may be on the cards for the Belgian.
In other Sunderland news, Danny Mills has warned Chris Rigg to be “very careful” before making any decision on his future.
