Leeds United fans absolutely furious after Sunderland transfer developments

Leeds United and Sunderland both achieved promotion from the Championship and will be directly competing against each other again next season.

Sunderland came up in the most dramatic of circumstances with a last-minute winner in the Championship play-off final, while Leeds strolled to promotion by winning the title with 100 points.

However, the way both clubs have approached the summer transfer window could not be more different. While key signings have been made by both sides, Sunderland’s have been particularly impressive, and the Black Cats have even beaten Leeds to some of their targets.

A deal has now been agreed to sign Chemsdine Talbi from Club Brugge, and Leeds fans are absolutely furious as Sunderland’s spending continues to rise.

Leeds fans furious as Sunderland agree Talbi deal

Sunderland’s deal to sign Talbi will be their fourth high-profile signing of the summer, after Habib Diarra, Enzo Le Fee and Noah Sadiki all saw moves confirmed in recent weeks.

Leeds, meanwhile, have spent money on centre-backs Sebastiaan Bornauw and Jaka Bijol, but are yet to strengthen other positions.

Daniel Farke was reportedly keen on Diarra, but he chose Le Bris’ side, and Leeds fans are now frustrated at the different transfer approaches of both sides.

Sunderland are targeting highly-rated young talents, while Leeds have been linked with Championship players such as Josh Sargent, and their fans are now furious.

Sunderland are taking more risks than Leeds

While Sunderland’s signings have been exciting ones, they are certainly more risky, with younger players from foreign leagues targeted.

However, the Black Cats could offset this if they complete the signing of Jordan Henderson, with the former academy product and Liverpool captain linked with a sensational return to the Stadium of Light.

Leeds did have a better squad than Sunderland last season, but the Black Cats are putting themselves in a better position for the Premier League with their ambitious signings across the pitch.

More transfers are expected for both clubs, but Sunderland’s risky strategy could pay off if their signings hit the ground running, while Leeds are still scrambling to recruit more players.

Le Bris has been backed in the market, and he will hope for a fast start to the season once his squad is completed.
